【摘要】:Thistestsystemhasadvantagesincertainrespectsovertheuseofstaticloadingsystemsinthemeasurementofceramicwhitewares.Onlyminutestressesareappliedtothespecimen,thusminimizingthepossibilityoffracture.Theperiodoftimeduringwhichstressisappliedandremovedisoftheorderofhundredsofmicroseconds,makingitfeasibletoperformmeasurementsattemperatureswheredelayedelasticandcreepeffectsproceedonamuch-shortenedtimescale.Thistestmethodissuitablefordetectingwhetheramaterialmeetsspecifications,ifcognizanceisgiventooneimportantfact:ceramicwhitewarematerialsaresensitivetothermalhistory.Therefore,thethermalhistoryofatestspecimenmustbeknownbeforethemodulicanbeconsideredintermsofspecifiedvalues.Materialspecificationsshouldincludeaspecificthermaltreatmentforalltestspecimens.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheelasticpropertiesofceramicwhitewarematerials.Specimensofthesematerialspossessspecificmechanicalresonancefrequencieswhicharedefinedbytheelasticmoduli,density,andgeometryofthetestspecimen.Thereforetheelasticpropertiesofamaterialcanbecomputedifthegeometry,density,andmechanicalresonancefrequenciesofasuitabletestspecimenofthatmaterialcanbemeasured.Young''smodulusisdeterminedusingtheresonancefrequencyintheflexuralmodeofvibration.Theshearmodulus,ormodulusofrigidity,isfoundusingtorsionalresonancevibrations.Young''smodulusandshearmodulusareusedtocomputePoisson''sratio,thefactoroflateralcontraction.1.2Allceramicwhitewarematerialsthatareelastic,homogeneous,andisotropicmaybetestedbythistestmethod.Thistestmethodisnotsatisfactoryforspecimensthathavecracksorvoidsthatrepresentinhomogeneitiesinthematerial;neitherisitsatisfactorywhenthesematerialscannotbepreparedinasuitablegeometry.Note18212;Elasticheremeansthatanapplicationofstresswithintheelasticlimitofthatmaterialmakingupthebodybeingstressedwillcauseaninstantaneousanduniformdeformation,whichwillceaseuponremovalofthestress,withthebodyreturninginstantlytoitsoriginalsizeandshapewithoutanenergyloss.Manyceramicwhitewarematerialsconformtothisdefinitionwellenoughthatthistestismeaningful.Note28212;Isotropicmeansthattheelasticpropertiesarethesameinalldirectionsinthematerial.1.3Acryogeniccabinetandhigh-temperaturefurnacearedescribedformeasuringtheelasticmoduliasafunctionoftemperaturefromx2212;195to1200x00B0;C.1.4Modificationofthetestforuseinqualitycontrolispossible.Arangeofacceptableresonancefrequenciesisdeterminedforapiecewithaparticulargeometryanddensity.Anyspecimenwithafrequencyresponsefallingoutsidethisfrequencyrangeisrejected.Theactualmodulusofeachpieceneednotbedeterminedaslongasthelimitsoftheselectedfrequencyrangeareknowntoincludetheresonancefrequencythatthepiecemustpossessifitsgeometryanddensityarewithinspecifiedtolerances.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
