【摘要】:Thebioavailabilityofchemicalelementsispoorlyrelatedtothechemicalcompositionofsoilsandplantgrowthmediacontainingamineraloranytypeofadsorbedphase.Thechemicalpotential(piforelement,i,)isanintensityparameter(I),andthesorbedamountinequilibriumwiththesoilsolutionisameasureofthequantity(Q).Theseparametersforeachelement(essentialortoxic)shouldbemeasuredinthepresenceofotherelementsatornearthedesiredintensity.Thistestmethodistheonlymethodthatgeneratestheseresultssimultaneouslyforseveralelements.Thecomputersoftwareallowsthesevaluestoberelatedtothetotalsorbedquantitiesofthedifferentelements.Formanysubstrates,ithasbeenfoundthatthetheoryforthemethodholdstothedegreethatvegetationhasbeenestablishedonmanynon-soilsubstratesandsoil-water-foodchainproblemshavebeenevaluatedbythistestmethod.ThistestmethodhasbeenusedonmanysitesinPennsylvaniaandotherlocationstomonitortheeffectofsewagesludgeapplicationsonlandasasourceofessentialelementsforplantswithnoharmfuleffectsonthefoodchain.Ithasalsobeenusedtoevaluatesyntheticsoilsproducedfromfly-ashaloneorasacomponentofcoalrefusefortheestablishmentofvegetationonminespoils,coalrefusepiles,andabandonedminelands.Thequalityoftheresultproducedbythisstandardisdependentonthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingit,andthesuitabilityoftheequipmentandfacilitiesused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3740aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivetesting/sampling/inspectionandthelike.UsersofthisstandardarecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3740doesnotinitselfassurereliableresults.Reliableresultsdependonmanyfactors;PracticeD3740providesameansofevaluatingsomeofthosefactors.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofquantity(Q)andintensity(I)resultsforseveralelementsinsoils,spoils,fly-ash,andothersoilsubstitutestoascertaintheirsuitabilityforthegrowthofvegetationandpossibleadverseeffectsofmetalsonthefoodchain.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
